ABOUT MUKTESHWAR
Mukteshwar is a village and tourist destination in the Nainital district of Uttarakhand, India. It sits high in the Kumaon hills at an altitude of 2171 meters( 7500 feet) 51 km from Nainital, 72 km from Haldwani, and 340 km from Delhi.Mukteshwar is rich in scenic beauty, with magnificent views of the Indian Himalayas including India’s second-highest peak, Nanda Devi.
HOW TO REACH MUKTESHWAR
In this blog, I will assume that you are staying in Delhi or NCR and I will tell you the way to reach Mukteshwar. Well, if you are staying away from Mukteshwar say in Mumbai or Bangalore or for example any other city, first you have to come to Delhi and then you can go to Mukteshwar.
One can go to Mukteshwar by bus, from the Delhi Kashmiri gate bus stand, buses are available here and it will take approximately 9 and a half hours to reach Mukteshwar by bus. The fare can vary from Rs 1000.00 to 1400.00 depending upon the bus you take.
The quickest way to reach Mukteshwar from Delhi is to take a flight to Pantnagar from Delhi, which will take around 1 hour time and will cost you around Rs 4000.00 to Rs 6000.00 as per the season. From Pantnagar, you can take a taxi which will take around 3 an hour and is approximately 90 km away from Mukteshwar.
From Delhi, you can also take a train to Ramnagar and then take a taxi to Mukteshwar, which is around 110 km from Ramnagar and will take around 3 hours to reach from Ramnagar. Trains are available on daily basis to Ramnagar from the old Delhi railway station. It takes around 5 hours to reach Ramnagar and can cost you Rs 225.00 for a sleeper class ticket.
Train to kathgodam is also available from the old Delhi railway station, which also takes 5 hours and Mukteshwar is just 65 km away from Kathgodam, so it is a better option.
One can also take his car from Delhi or go by taxi to Mukteshwar which will take around 8 hours to reach Mukteshwar. One must leave early in the morning around 5.00 am to avoid the heavy traffic of Delhi, so they can reach Muketeshwar by evening time.
BEST TIME TO VISIT MUKTESHWAR –
One can visit Mukteshwar any time of the year as the climate remains pleasant all year round, but let’s get some detailed information regarding visiting Muketeshwar in different seasons of the year.
The best time to visit Mukteshwar is from April to June, as summer is the season at this time and the mornings are cool and, in the day, it is quite sunny and pleasant.
Mukteshwar experiences monsoon season from July to September, which is not a very advisable time to visit Mukteshwar, as it experiences heavy rainfall at this time and one has to be in the hotel for most of the time, whereas if you are a nature lover and loves to enjoy the green lush mountains it is this time of the year you should visit Mukteshwar.
If you are a snow lover and you want to enjoy winter, then the best time for you to visit Mukteshwar is November to February. Mukteshwar gets snowfall from December end to January. It is very chilled out here at this time of the season, as the temperature goes below freezing point and the mornings and nights are very cold. The average temperature in the winter is around 8 degrees to – 2 degrees Celsius.
WHERE TO STAY IN MUKETESHWAR –
As Mukteshwar is a very famous hill station of Uttarakhand, located in the Nainital district, it has many good properties where one can stay. Some of the best properties to stay at in Mukteshwar are Ojaswi Himalayan Resort, Treehouse Resort, Krishna Orchard Resort, Whistling woods camps and resort, and Kross Vindz hotel in Mukteshwar. These are all luxury resorts, to stay here one will have to spend around Rs 4000.00 to 7000.00 per night on twin sharing basis.
Apart from the luxury resorts and hotels in Mukteshwar, one can also find some homestay and low-budget hotels in Mukteshwar to stay. Some of them which come to my mind are Go Stops Mukteshwar and Vineet’s Homestay Mukteshwar.
WHAT TO EAT AND WHERE TO EAT IN MUKTESHWAR –
The top restaurants where you can eat in Mukteshwar are Nirvana Organic Kitchen, Café Chandi mati, and many more. You can also enjoy street food near the Mukteshwar temple where you can eat Maggi, drink tea, and coffee, cut fruits, and lots more. When in Mukteshwar you must try Burhansh drink also, which is a local drink in the entire Uttarakhand, it is made out of a flower named Burhans and is served as a welcome drink in Uttarakhand.
THINGS TO DO IN MUKTESHWAR –
There are a lot of things that a person can do while visiting Mukteshwar. Some of the things to do are as under –
Trekking you will simply love to breathe in the mountain fresh air.
Paragliding is one of the famous things to do in Mukteshwar, generally, it is in a package of fun and thrilling activities like river crossing, kite flying, night treks, and wildlife tracking.

THINGS TO CARRY WHILE GOING TO MUKTESWAR –
If you are going to Mukteshwar from May to July, you must carry Sun Glasses, a Hat, Sunscreen lotion, light cotton clothes, good pair of shoes for walking and trekking.
If you are visiting Mukteshwar in the monsoon season, you must carry an Umbrella, raincoat, light cotton clothes, good pair of shoes
If you are visiting Mukteshwar in winter in December or January, you must carry heavy woolen clothes, a jacket, and a sweater as it is very cold in these months. Woolen socks, good pair of shoes and an extra pair of shoes also you must carry as snowfall can wet your shoes and you must not wear wet shoes in this climate. Woolen cap and gloves also you can carry along with you.

2 Nights stay is a must to visit Mukteshwar, but if you are a nature lover and want to spend some time in the lap of nature and visit all the above-stated places, 3 nights is recommended to stay here.
